Fumigation

What is a fumigation

Fumigation is a method of using a lethal gas (hydrogen cyanide, phosphorated hydrogen) to exterminate pests in a infested area.

Fumigation eliminates pests which can damage:

• Supplies – flour, grain, food
• Parts of buildings – wooden beams, furniture, churches

What are your benefits

We can safely get rid of dangerous pests in various places, e.g.:

• Mills, grain warehouses, silos, bakeries, food plants
• Wooden houses, log cabins, churches and other wooden structures
• Wooden furniture, antique furniture

Fumigation can be carried out in sigle solid structures or structures which can be hermatically sealed (we use tarpaulins).

Hydrogen cyanide fumigation

Conditions: The temperature inside a structure must not fall below 10 °C. Extremely high temperatures are also not suitable.

Date request: Hydrogen cyanide is not commonly available, so the fumigation should be ordered a few months in advance.

Phosphorated hydrogen fumigation

Conditions: The temperature inside a structure must not fall below 10 °C.

Date request: Phosprohrated hydrogen is available throughout a year. Therefore the date of the fumigation is really flexible.

Hydrogen cyanide fumigation

We use it for mills, bakeries and food plants, poultry facilities and empty warehouses.

Advantages: high efficiency, low resistence and short time of exposition (24h). It also has a very low rate of corrosion, so it can be used in spaces with electronics and automatic systems. When the conditions are optimal, a structure can be used again within 3 days.

Phosphorated hydrogen fumigation

We use it for grain warehouses, silos, wooden houses, log cabinets, antique furniture and churches.

At least three days of exposition need to be taken into account (by the temperature around 16-25 °C) and also forty eight hours of ventilation need to be done. So it takes at least 5 days until the structure can be used again. There must not be any electronics in the fumigated area.

Our procedure

Fumigation is a very complex process, which needs to be carefully planned. Find out our procedure step by step:

1. We examine your facility.
2. We offer you the best solution, calculate the costs and suggest a price.
3. You mechanically clean the facility, machines and equipment.
4. We hermetically seal the facility and secure it.
5. We carry out the fumigation.
6. We let the gas in the facility as long as necessary for a proper exposition.
7. After the proper exposition we air the facility.
8. After a safety check we hand the facility back to you.

Fumigation safety

Before an effective fumigation in a facility, a careful mechanical cleaning is supposed to be done.

Hydrogen cyanide can be used in spaces without supplies only! If you can’t clear out the facility, phosphorated hydrogen will be used.

You must not come in or near the facility during the whole time of the procedure. That also applies for animals.

Fumigation efficiency

The efficiency of fumigation is maximized by careful mechanical cleaning.

High toxicity ensures extermination of all living. When hydrogen cyanide is used, the extermination of eggs is guaranteed (tested pest: poultry mite).

In food plants they carry out fumigation at least once a year or more frequently – as a prevention.
